Renowned biathlete Laura Dahlmeier, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, tragically passed away at the age of 31 following a mountaineering accident in the Karakoram mountains in northern Pakistan.
Dahlmeier was struck by falling rocks, and despite early rescue efforts, she could not be located due to harsh weather conditions and the remote location of the incident.

IOC President Kirsty Coventry expressed deep shock at Dahlmeier’s passing, highlighting her historic achievements at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
According to Dahlmeier’s management, the accident occurred at an altitude of nearly 19,000 feet, and she was rescued by locals from the site of the landslide.

Despite her retirement from professional competition in 2019, Dahlmeier leaves behind a legacy of success, including multiple gold medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics and seven world championships.
