A 19-year-old from Salisbury, Jayden Ballard, was charged by the Maryland State Police for impersonating a police officer and making fake traffic stops. According to the police, Ballard gained access to a marked Maryland State Police vehicle and was seen wearing a Maryland State Police uniform while conducting unlawful traffic stops in Wicomico County.
The photos show Ballard in a beige uniform with a radio attached to his chest. The Maryland State Police spokesperson mentioned that the investigation is ongoing to determine how Ballard obtained the uniform and police cruiser.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have interacted with Ballard while he was posing as a Maryland State Trooper to contact the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division. Ballard’s trial is set to begin on September 24, according to online court records.
