Matt Leinart emphasizes importance of blood donations in the US

Matt Leinart had a successful football career, winning two national championships and the Heisman Trophy at USC before becoming a first-round draft pick in the NFL.

Now transitioning into a role as a college football analyst on FOX Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff,” Leinart has partnered with Abbott to address blood shortages in the U.S.

Leinart shared a personal connection to the cause, citing his mother’s need for blood transfusions during her battle with cancer and the importance of donating blood to help others in similar situations.

He emphasized the impact of blood donations, noting that one donation can save up to three lives.

Abbott’s campaign will involve Big Ten Conference schools competing to donate the most blood, with the winning school receiving $1 million for health initiatives.

The competition will kick off on “We Give Blood Day” on Aug. 27 and continue through the Big Ten Championship Game on Dec. 6.
