A man attending a recent Major League Soccer game claimed he was asked to leave the stadium due to his attire, as seen in a video posted on social media.
The man, identified as Michael Weitzel, was wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat at Energizer Park, the home stadium of St. Louis City SC.
“I have been asked to leave because of the Donald Trump hat,” Weitzel stated in the video during an interaction with security personnel and law enforcement officers.

A member of the security team at the venue explained that they do not allow any political messaging in the stadium.
Weitzel pointed out fans holding flags and suggested they were political items, but the security staff clarified that those were pre-approved.

The rules at Energizer Park prohibit political banners, but do not mention anything about hats.
After questioning the enforcement of policies, Weitzel claimed he was “being threatened with arrest” and asked if he was being evicted.
As he headed to the concourse area, Weitzel stated, “Trump is not welcome in St. Louis City SC Club.”
One of the security staffers suggested he could return if he removed his hat. Weitzel complied, but was informed that it was too late.

Weitzel remarked, “So this is what happens when you wear a Donald Trump hat at a St. Louis City SC game.”
St. Louis City SC did not release any statements regarding the incident. The team currently holds the No. 14 spot in the MLS Western Conference.
