Confused Disneyland visitors at the “It’s a Small World” attraction were surprised by a protest doll holding a sign reading “Remember Hiroshima” over the weekend, causing a stir online as videos of the doll went viral.

Footage started circulating on TikTok and Reddit on Monday showing a woman carrying a female doll with a sign that read “Remember Hiroshima” while strolling around Disneyland. Another image online showed the doll positioned inside the “It’s a Small World” exhibit, strategically placed next to one of the ride’s tunnels.

As the videos gained traction and garnered hundreds of thousands of views, social media users pondered the significance of the political demonstration, while others questioned how the doll managed to make it through the park’s security measures.

Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen disclosed that he was behind the stunt, stating in an interview with Fox News Digital that he is running a campaign against the U.S. government’s accumulation of powerful weapons as part of his “Up in Arms” initiative aimed at the Pentagon’s expenditure. Cohen emphasized that while the campaign is focused on current policies under the Trump administration, the issue of Pentagon spending is bipartisan and extends beyond the current government.

The protest was timed just before the 80th anniversary of the 1945 Hiroshima bombings, where an atomic bomb claimed the lives of over 100,000 individuals in the Japanese city during World War II. Cohen specifically criticized the ongoing conflict in Gaza, referring to it as the “moral issue of our time,” along with the nearly $900 billion Pentagon budget.

Trump has consistently advocated for a “peace through strength” approach for the U.S. military, arguing that a robust military presence will deter other nations from inciting conflicts.

A spokesperson for Disneyland informed Fox Digital that a staff member promptly removed the doll from the ride attraction upon its initial sighting and reminded the guest of park regulations. The activist who placed the doll within the attraction departed without any further incident, according to Disney.

Ben & Jerry’s, which Cohen and co-founder Jerry Greenfield sold in 2000, is known for its left-wing politics and social justice activism, including introducing ice cream flavors like “Pecan Resist” in 2018 to protest the Trump administration, and “Change the Whirled” in 2021 developed with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick.

Cohen has actively participated in public demonstrations, such as in May when he was detained after disrupting a Senate hearing focused on aid to Gaza.

Cohen mentioned that he is embarking on a four-year campaign to protest the U.S. military budget in order to reallocate funds towards the needs of the people.

“Americans are compassionate,” he stated. “They desire a good life for themselves and their families. People want quality living conditions, good education, affordable childcare, but they are told there is a lack of funds, all while the money is being spent on preparations to harm millions of individuals worldwide.”
