NC State Auditor focuses on implementing state-level DOGE for real impact

North Carolina’s state auditor, Dave Boliek, expressed his enthusiasm for implementing a state version of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in order to benefit taxpayers. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Boliek shared his plans to enhance the state government’s efficiency and resource utilization for the taxpayers’ benefit through House Bill 125, a state-level DOGE initiative recently passed by the legislature.

The bill includes the establishment of a Division of Accountability, Value, and Efficiency (DAVE Act) to support the state auditor’s office in scrutinizing the efficiency of government operations and ensuring a good return on investment for taxpayer dollars. Boliek emphasized the importance of using modern tools like computer programs and data analysis to make informed recommendations for budget cuts or enhancements.

The DAVE Act aims to not only cut wasteful spending but also allocate resources to areas lacking funding. Boliek highlighted the legislature’s directive to investigate unfilled positions in the state to identify reasons for vacancies and strategies to fill them efficiently. He stressed the need for data-driven decision-making to evaluate the effectiveness of taxpayer-funded programs and ensure measurable outcomes.

Moreover, Boliek emphasized the importance of tracking expenses and outcomes to enhance accountability and efficiency in government spending. He underscored the significance of providing relief, such as hurricane relief, with measurable results to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent effectively. With the impending enactment of the DAVE Act, Boliek looks forward to making a tangible impact on North Carolinians by promoting transparency and accountability in government operations.
