Nick Saban responds to coaching comeback speculation, content in retirement.

Rumors swirled last week about the potential return of Nick Saban to the sideline, but the seven-time national champion does not seem to be in a hurry to make a comeback.

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy mentioned on his radio show that he heard from a source about Saban possibly returning in the future, although McElroy himself was skeptical about it.

College football fans got excited, only for Saban to dampen the speculation during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

“You know, it is amazing to me that this came up in the media, and the media speaks for you and thinks for you,” Saban said.

He then joked about considering coaching again while doing household chores, realizing that coaching was a better job than running a sweeper. However, he emphasized his contentment with his current role, working to preserve the integrity of the game and creating opportunities for young athletes.

Saban did not completely rule out a return to coaching but stated there is currently no appealing opportunity for him.

“I enjoy what I am doing. I did it for 50 years. I loved it. I loved the relationships with the players. I love the competition. But you know it is another station of life now, and I enjoy what I am doing right now and want to continue to do it,” he added. “Spend more time with my family, my grandchildren, my children, and it has been really, really good.”

Saban retired from coaching in 2024 after a Rose Bowl loss to Michigan, citing the evolving landscape of college athletics.
