The Los Angeles Chargers are facing a setback with the news that All-Pro left tackle Rashawn Slater will miss the entire 2025 season due to a ruptured patellar tendon.
Slater had to leave practice on Thursday on a medical cart, visibly upset as he made his way back inside the team’s facility.
The 26-year-old is set to undergo surgery to repair the injury, and the Chargers have placed him on injured reserve.

During a team drill, Slater fell to the ground while executing a block, clutching his left leg in pain. Teammates and trainers helped him to his feet as he was unable to put weight on the leg.
Just weeks ago, Slater signed a lucrative contract extension with the Chargers, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history with a deal worth $113 million, including $92 million in guarantees.

Chargers linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu expressed disappointment at Slater’s injury, emphasizing the impact on the team.
With Slater out, the Chargers will have to reshuffle their offensive line, possibly moving Joe Alt to left tackle as they deal with injuries to other linemen like Mekhi Becton.

Last season, the Chargers offense performed well with Slater in the lineup, setting a franchise record for fewest turnovers in a season.
