Country music legend Reba McEntire mourns the loss of her former stepson, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away at the age of 48 after a private battle with cancer.

McEntire, 70, was previously married to talent manager Narvel Blackstock, 68, with whom she shares a son named Shelby, 35. Despite the divorce, McEntire always considered Brandon as part of her family.

“Brandon’s been my son forever, it seems. Although he’s my stepson, I still love him like he’s my total — my blood,” McEntire shared in a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight.

While she was married to Narvel, McEntire viewed his children as her own. She told The Boot in 2010, “I don’t consider Brandon, Chassidy and Shawna stepchildren. I claim them all.”

In a 2012 post on X, McEntire expressed her pride in all her children, including Brandon and Shelby.

McEntire also shares a close bond with Blackstock’s ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson, 43, with whom she has collaborated on music projects and appeared on “The Voice.”

Clarkson and Blackstock were married in 2013 and share two children before their divorce in 2020.

Before Blackstock’s passing, McEntire spent time with him and their family at a rodeo event.

Following Blackstock’s death, the family released an emotional statement confirming his passing after a long battle with cancer.

While McEntire has not publicly commented on Blackstock’s passing, Shelby shared a heartfelt tribute to his late half-brother.

Clarkson, on the other hand, announced the postponement of her Las Vegas residency shows due to a family emergency.
