Scottie Scheffler prioritizes Cowboys Super Bowl win over major title

Scottie Scheffler has been a dominant force on the golf course in recent years, winning two major tournaments this year – the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. Despite being a two-time Masters Tournament champion, Scheffler admitted that he would be willing to trade at least one of his major titles to see his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, win a Super Bowl.

“Gosh, I don’t know. I would trade one, for sure, for a Super Bowl,” Scheffler responded when asked about potentially sacrificing a major title for a Cowboys Super Bowl win.

Before the recent Open Championship, Scheffler expressed that despite his success in golf, it did not completely fulfill him. He has been a longtime fan of the Dallas Cowboys, despite being a New Jersey native who has lived in Dallas for most of his life.

While the Waste Management Phoenix Open is not one of golf’s majors, Scheffler mentioned that he would be willing to give up several victories in that tournament to see the Cowboys win the Super Bowl.

“I’ve been rooting for a Super Bowl for a long time as well,” Scheffler said, humorously implying that he has faced more disappointment in football than in golf. “A lot of hard work has gone into cheering on the Boys.”

The Dallas Cowboys have a storied history with five Super Bowl titles but have not won a championship in three decades. Scheffler has witnessed limited postseason success from the Cowboys during his lifetime.

Despite a challenging 2024 season for the Cowboys, including a hamstring injury to quarterback Dak Prescott and a 7-10 record, Scheffler remains hopeful for a Super Bowl victory in the future.
