Security footage captured a failed attempt to tow a vehicle in University Place, Washington, where a car crashed into a storefront multiple times before the individuals involved fled the scene.

Authorities from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Pho and Teriyaki around 6 a.m. on July 30 regarding a car that had rammed into the restaurant.

The maroon sedan was no longer inside the building but was abandoned in the same parking lot.

An investigation, which included reviewing surveillance footage, revealed that the driver of the sedan had parked near AutoZone in the same strip mall around 5:45 p.m. the day before the incident.

Deputies discovered that the driver had informed store employees about returning to tow the vehicle away.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., video footage showed a white Honda Pilot with a trailer dolly attempting to pull the broken-down vehicle away.

An hour and a half later, the vehicle was successfully removed from the stall using a tow strap, which broke once the car was towed to the other end of the parking lot.

The driver tried to secure the vehicle again, but the strap broke once more, causing the car to roll back towards the building. The driver attempted to stop the vehicle before it collided with the restaurant.

Despite multiple failed attempts, the driver and a female passenger managed to free the car, steer it towards the exit, and accidentally hit a retaining wall and curb before abandoning the vehicle and leaving the scene.

The restaurant suffered significant damage, and the incident is being treated as a hit-and-run, according to the sheriff’s office. Fox News Digital has reached out to the sheriff’s office for information regarding any arrests or charges related to the incident.
