Sen. Rick Scott backs Rep. Byron Donalds for Florida governor

Senator Rick Scott, a Republican from Florida, has officially endorsed Representative Byron Donalds in his bid for Florida governor. Scott, who previously served as governor of Florida before Ron DeSantis, praised Donalds as a principled conservative who will lead with courage and fight for every Floridian.

Donalds expressed his gratitude to Senator Scott for his endorsement, stating, “Thank you @ScottforFlorida for your support! You have been an incredible leader for our state and it’s been an honor to fight alongside you on Capitol Hill.”

President Donald Trump had previously endorsed Donalds for the governorship, prompting him to announce his candidacy earlier this year. Trump praised Donalds as a strong candidate, declaring, “Byron Donalds would be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida.”

With DeSantis ineligible to run for a third term in 2026 due to state term limits, the upcoming gubernatorial race in Florida is shaping up to be a closely watched contest.

Senator Scott and Trump have also thrown their support behind Senator Ashley Moody in her bid to retain her Senate seat in Florida. Moody, who was appointed by DeSantis to replace Marco Rubio, is aiming to win a special election next year to complete Rubio’s Senate term.
