Six women from Maryland were taken into custody in Massachusetts on various charges, including breaking and entering, as authorities believe they were part of an organized criminal group spanning multiple states.
The women, aged between 21 and 42 and with Maryland addresses, were also accused of conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, and resisting arrest, as stated by the Norwood Police Department.

Norwood Police responded to a report of a break-in at a residence near Neponset Street in Norwood, Massachusetts, on Friday afternoon. Homeowners discovered several women inside their home and upon confrontation, the suspects quickly fled in a vehicle, according to Norwood Police.

Later in the day, an officer spotted a vehicle matching the suspects’ description, leading to a brief car chase. The six women then abandoned their vehicle and ran into a nearby wooded area. One suspect was apprehended at that time, as reported by Norwood Police.
Another officer, with the assistance of a detective, captured two other suspects trying to escape across a nearby river. The final suspect was caught shortly after, according to Norwood Police.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of on-duty officers, specialized units, and mutual aid partners, all six suspects involved in the break-in were taken into custody,” stated Norwood Police Chief Padden.

Norwood Police, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations, verified the identities of the six women as Mirabela Caldarau, 42, Jajela Chiciu, 41, Flavia Caldararu, 22, Emilia Sardaru, 36, Mihaela Ion, 33, and Elizabeth Sardaru, 21.
Authorities discovered that the women were related and that several had warrants from other states for similar offenses, according to Norwood Police.

The six women were presented in court on Monday for arraignment and three of them were subsequently released on bail and immediately turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Two men attempting to post bail at the court were also taken into ICE custody, as confirmed by Norwood Police.

“A preliminary investigation suggests the suspects are allegedly part of an organized group engaged in similar criminal activity across multiple states,” stated the Norwood Police Department. “All are related, including the two males who arrived to post bail.”
The case remains under investigation, and the Norwood Police Department is collaborating with other jurisdictions.
