The individual accused in the brutal killings of an “American Idol” music executive and her spouse reportedly used the couple’s own firearm to shoot them before contacting 911 himself.
Initial reports suggested that the suspect was in the process of burglarizing the couple’s residence on July 10 when they returned unexpectedly. Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly shot Robin Kaye and Thomas DeLuca upon their return.
During a recent town hall meeting, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman disclosed these new details.
Hochman claimed that Boodarian provided his name when he dialed 911 on July 10, as per a report from ABC7. Detectives were able to locate him following these calls after the discovery of the deceased individuals on July 14.

Kaye and DeLuca were discovered deceased inside their home on July 14 during a welfare check conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Concerned after not hearing from the couple for several days, a friend contacted authorities. The police gained access to the property through the friend, where they found indications of a disturbance outside.
Upon entering through a broken window, the officers found that the couple had been shot and killed.

On July 10, LAPD officers responded to the Encino home after receiving reports of a burglary. At that time, they observed no signs of forced entry.
“The house is fortified. It has seven, eight-foot-high walls with metal spikes that are welded onto the tips of the walls there. The vehicle gate was closed, also spiked. They had no means of entering via gate code like they did on the date of the welfare check,” LAPD Lt. Guy Golan told Fox News Digital about the July 10 response.
“They did request a flyover by our airship, which did happen,” he added. “There were no signs of forced entry during this flyover. And again, that the suspect entered the property without force and entry. So there were no signs of burglary. And regarding what evidence there was in the front porch, it was not visible by air due to the foyer having a kind of a cover over it there at the front of the house. So the airship was not able to see what the officers observed during the welfare check.”

Boodarian now faces two counts of murder and one count of first-degree burglary. According to Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams, he could potentially receive life imprisonment without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
Local Encino residents gathered at the town hall meeting on Monday to express concerns about the increasing crime rates in the area.
“This murder could have been avoided,” stated Heather Michaels from the Encino Neighborhood Council, as reported by Fox11. “The community feels unsafe. They are frightened. A lot of the elderly don’t even want to come out of their homes.”
Authorities have heightened patrols across the Encino region from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in response.
