Teddi Mellencamp posted a video on Tuesday showing an attempted break-in at her Los Angeles home on Monday night.
The former reality TV star shared footage on Instagram from her security cameras, capturing three individuals in black hoodies jumping over her property’s gate and driveway.
Another clip revealed the suspects moving through the yard before quickly exiting the premises.
“We are thankful that everyone is safe,” Mellencamp stated. “Although we are shaken, we are lucky to have top-notch home security systems that scared off the intruders. Authorities were promptly notified and responded. We appreciate everyone’s concern given recent criminal activities in our area, but rest assured, we are secure.”
According to NBC News Los Angeles, Mellencamp’s estranged husband mentioned that the perpetrators entered through a side door but fled after triggering the alarm. Despite being at home during the incident, the couple discovered the intruders had already left by the time they arrived downstairs.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to two burglary calls in the vicinity that evening, one of which occurred before the attempted break-in at Mellencamp’s residence.
News of the break-in coincided with Mellencamp’s announcement that her tumors had significantly reduced or disappeared following cancer treatment.
Diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year, Mellencamp underwent surgery, immunotherapy, and radiation to combat melanoma that had metastasized in her brain and lungs.
“I’m doing well,” Mellencamp shared on Instagram. “I have a couple more immunotherapy sessions, and then hopefully, I’ll be cancer-free. I’ll remain positive because my doctor believes in me – he said, ‘You got this.'”
She also encouraged her followers to take control of their health and emphasized the importance of advocating for oneself in medical situations.
Mellencamp stressed the significance of being proactive in one’s health after experiencing a critical medical oversight that led to a delayed Stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
“It’s crucial to be an advocate for your health, especially when you’re not feeling well,” Mellencamp told Glamour.
