Reveille X, the beloved mascot of Texas A&M, recently underwent surgery to remove her right eye due to a diagnosis of glaucoma. Known as the “First Lady of Aggieland,” Reveille X experienced discomfort and cloudiness in her eye prior to the surgery. The procedure was done as a precaution after abnormal tissue was discovered.
Thankfully, Texas A&M President Mark A. Welsh III reported that Reveille X has successfully come through the surgery, been discharged, and is resting comfortably. The collie will need some time to recover before resuming her duties, but she is expected to be back in action in the fall.
Reveille, the Texas A&M mascot, has a long history dating back to 1931 when she was found by cadets. The dog earned her name after barking during morning reveille. Reveille X, the current mascot, has been patrolling the sidelines since 2021 with the help of “Rev Force One,” a souped-up golf cart.
Welsh stated that Reveille X will be back to enjoying her activities, such as cruising on Rev Force One, attending classes, cheering on the Aggies, and keeping campus squirrels in line, in the upcoming fall season.
Texas A&M had a successful season last year under head coach Mike Elko, finishing with an 8-5 record.
