Travis Hunter’s father was taken into custody in Florida this week for allegedly violating his probation, according to online records.
The Heisman Trophy winner’s father was reportedly found to be “too far away from his monitoring device to be accurately tracked” on the evening of June 28 for 11 minutes, with his whereabouts unknown. He claimed that he was in a bedroom while the device was in the living room and later stated that he had misplaced the monitor on July 1. A warrant for his arrest was issued on July 10.

Hunter Sr. was previously incarcerated on drug and gun charges in September due to an incident in 2023. He is currently on home confinement for a year as part of his three-year probation, following a 90-day sentence.
He was released from prison shortly before Hunter received his Heisman, and he was granted permission by a Florida court to travel to Green Bay for the NFL Draft in April.
During his travel, Hunter Sr. was restricted to going only to and from the hotel and the draft location, with a requirement to return home the day after the first round. He had to provide a travel itinerary to his community control officer.

Upon winning the Heisman, Hunter expressed his emotions about his father, stating, “I want to say something to my father. He’s not here and wasn’t able to make it, but I know you’re watching on TV. Dad, I love you. For all the stuff you went through man… Now, look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man.”
