The U.S. Department of Education has intensified its efforts against schools that are not complying with Title IX and President Donald Trump’s executive order.

Secretary Linda McMahon announced actions against Oregon and Virginia for their gender ideology policies.

In Oregon, McMahon is launching an investigation against the state’s Department of Education (ODE) following incidents involving trans athletes in girls’ sports.

Craig Trainor, the acting assistant secretary for the DOE’s office of civil rights (OCR), stated, “If Oregon is permitting males to compete in women’s sports, it is allowing these males to steal the accolades and opportunities that female competitors have rightfully earned, while disregarding women’s and girls’ safety, dignity, and privacy. Title IX does not permit that, and we will not tolerate it.”

Two lawsuits filed by female track athletes in Oregon have brought attention to the issue. The lawsuits argue that their rights were violated by allowing males to compete in girls’ sports.

Earlier in July, two other female students filed a lawsuit against the ODE and OSAA for its policies that allow males to compete in girls’ sports.

Both students expressed the traumatic nature of their experience.

The U.S. DOE investigation is based on these lawsuits and is being represented by the America First Policy Institute.

The OCR has also concluded its investigation against five school districts in Virginia for violating Title IX.

Trainor stated, “It’s time for Northern Virginia’s experiment with radical gender ideology and unlawful discrimination to come to an end.”

The five Virginia school districts have 10 days to reach a voluntary agreement with the Trump administration or face referral to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The DOJ has already filed lawsuits against officials in Maine and California for allowing trans athletes in girls’ and women’s sports.
