Former officials from the previous administration under President Trump are claiming they were informed by Google, just before the transition of power, that they were under investigation by the FBI during the Biden administration. The tech giant was unable to disclose this information due to a court order.
Dan Scavino, who currently serves as White House Deputy Chief of Staff and assistant to the president, referred to this situation as “Biden lawfare” taking effect after his service during Trump’s first term.
“Google received and complied with a legal request from the FBI to release information related to your Google account. A previous court order prevented Google from notifying you about this legal process…” Scavino stated in an email he received from Google five weeks before Trump’s return to office.
“I’ve never shared this before – but this is just a glimpse of the challenges many of us faced right here in the United States. It’s a disgrace!!” he added.
Less than 30 minutes after Scavino’s post, FBI Director Kash Patel responded, confirming that he had also received a similar notice. Jeff Clark, the current acting administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, also shared that he received a similar message.
“A team assigned by Jack Smith was tasked with reviewing my emails after a privilege review,” Clark mentioned in reference to the former special counsel. “Despite my efforts to protect my communications, it still cost me a significant amount of money.”
Smith was appointed by former Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate allegations that Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 election results, and later looked into the handling of classified documents found during a raid at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
“My private communications had nothing to do with the 2020 election. They were off-limits. These lawyers with government power were trying to intimidate me, but it didn’t work,” Clark stated.
The FBI has not yet responded to requests for comment. Fox News’ Alex Miller contributed to this report.
