During a White House event on Tuesday, President Donald Trump mentioned the implementation of rigorous testing in response to a question about mandatory genetic testing for women’s sports at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Trump made this statement as he was signing an executive order to establish the LA28 task force.
Trump emphasized, “I believe there will be a very stringent form of testing. If the test results are not appropriate, then individuals will not be permitted to participate in the Olympics.”

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) recently adjusted its athlete safety policy to align with Trump’s executive order regarding “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.”
“USOPC will work with various oversight entities to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment in accordance with Executive Order 14201,” the policy states.
Trump expressed confidence that the USOPC would have altered its previous policy allowing biological males to compete in women’s competitions even without his return to office and the signing of the executive order.
When asked about the longevity of the current policy after he leaves office, Trump remarked, “There is a possibility. The outcome could go either way, to be honest. I am passionate about this issue. During my campaign, I addressed many topics, including this one.”

Since the signing of Trump’s executive order, numerous women’s sports advocates have been pushing for mandatory sex testing in Olympic and NCAA women’s competitions. The Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS), a group representing women’s activist athletes, called for mandatory sex screening for all women athletes participating in USOPC-sanctioned events.
Stephanie Turner, a women’s fencer who gained attention for protesting against a transgender opponent in viral footage, also emphasized the need for testing.
“Strict enforcement of this policy is crucial,” Turner stated, highlighting karyotyping as a vital form of testing to ensure fair competition.
Former U.S. women’s gymnast Dee Worley echoed the sentiment, stating that mandatory testing is essential to safeguard female competitors.
