The Yankees’ announcers and fans criticized Chisholm for the mistake, with manager Aaron Boone also facing backlash.

Chisholm defended his actions, stating that he was trying to be aggressive on the basepaths, anticipating a potential error from the fielders.
Despite the error, Boone did not consider removing Chisholm from the game.
